 Mix and Match 30/08/2011 11.23.59

Mix and matching is not limited only to combining different styles in the same outfits. It involves at its core the basic ingredients that characterize items or accessories, like the fabrics or colors, blending them together in one sole creation. Or, with the same principle, adding them up, inventing a look with a surprising effect

Some examples seen on the runway: rust brown and electric blue, but also silk and leather, for the charming jumpsuit designed by Phillip Lim. In different materials, with splashes of tangerine on the different gradations of biscuit color: the layered outfit filled with details, by Blugirl. Played out with the different shades of red, ochre color, fur and different fabrics, plus shoes in black patent leather: the outfit created by Sonia Rykiel. Patchwork shawl combined with a striped pull: designed by Chloè.

Idea from which to draw inspiration from for your own personal experiments: the look that mixes items of different nature: python textured coat, crochet top, hound’s-tooth checkered pants, in this case united by a sort of a chromatic harmony tone on tone, suggested by Missoni.

Items with an interesting impact: for example, the mini skirt in dark wool, cut-out, giving a glimpse of the pleated skirt underneath in cedar-green silk, by Louise Hardcastle. Striking suggestion: the biker inspired leather jacket in a bright vermillion red plus sleeves in worn-out dark brown, by C’N’C Costume National.

Among the accessories in theme: for example the boots and the ankle boots in black leather, lined with white knitted fabric, by Casadei. Another idea: the sneakers in leather and cavallino leather with bright yellow inserts on a spotted base, by Giuseppe Zanotti Design.
