“When you figure out your suitcase, you figure out your life,” fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg said recently. Packing your bag for holidays, short break or even for a business trip can be the worst nightmare ever and packing for others too, such as children and partners can soon be tearing your hair out in frustration. There you are: the aim is to choose the items you want to take with you and get them all into the case without squashing and creasing your favorite clothes. Read our top tips to make packing stress free:
-
Know your luggage allowance. It is vital that you know your handbag allowance and hold baggage allowances before you even start planning.
-
Make a list: separate this into clothing, toiletries, gadgets and accessories, books and guides, medicines and any other item you are going to need.
-
Once ready, it’s time to pack. There are three main techniques, folding, rolling and bundling: we suggest you a combination of the three. Line up things into bundles. Pack shoes around the edges or bottom of your bag and wrapped in plastic bags. Pile up items such as underwear, shirts and tops into rectangle shaped bundles by folding them with those items that crease the most at the top. Place these into the case and get a flat surface to then lay items such as dresses, trousers and jackets on top. These should be laid flat so they stick out over the edge of the case and place shirts on top of them. Then place any delicate items on top of those and fold the lose edges over on to the top. Some people using tissue lining paper between layers.
-
Items such as toiletries should be packed tightly together into plastic sealable bags to prevent leakage. Try and ensure you decant from large bottles into smaller bottles that have enough for your trip. These take up less space and will weigh far less.
-
Plan to wear your heaviest and most bulky items.
These are just some tips you can follow in order to avoid the pre-holidays stress. So now relax and enjoy your holidays!

| Femininity speaks French through the "garçonne" style |

One of the trends we have seen from runways Fall-Winter 2013-14 is the "garçonne” style, a real mix of masculine and feminine pieces with a strong androgynous touch. A style notoriously sexy, especially if you match it with sky-high heels in strong contrast with the masculine cuts and lines. The feminine-masculine look seems to have been influenced by the 20s and 30s, the years of the famous “flapper girls" who showed proudly themselves with men’s hair cut and cigarette. The muse is undoubtedly Coco Chanel; she replaced the classic and uncomfortable Belle Epoque clothing style with a new one created for dynamic and emancipated women. She preferred the use of trousers for women and avoided corsets and feathers. In the new Fall-Winter 2013-14 new collections so the protagonists will be for sure masculine cut blazers, Bermuda shorts, vests, ties, brogues and bow ties. The accessory you can’t miss: the pocket-handkerchief (that can be called also pochette like the famous model of bag/purse).
